Last weeks before summer holiday

These last weeks before the summer holiday are full of activities at school but also with friends at home. Julie and Fleur had their Tennis Club Championships.

Julie plays the leading part in a play from her class. Fleur and her best friends like dancing and they take it really serious!

A week at the beach in The Hague

For 2 weeks we went some days to the beach in The Hague. The weather was not all good but we had some beautiful days as well! We love the Scheveningen beach area with all the beach/lounch cafes!

 Julie and Robert were playing this game all the time. Julie is considerably better than Robert.... In 15 minutes Robert couldnt solve the problem. It took Julie 3 minutes!

Weekend Amsterdam

This weekend we went to Amsterdam. Robert and I couldn't even remember last time being there. And what do you do in Amsterdam? You make a 'cruise' through all the famous canals of Amsterdam. Julie and Fleur really enjoyed it.

Of course you can not pass all the very interesting looking small cafe's and restaurants you see when wandering through town. So we often stopped to have a break. Robert and Julie are eating proper apple cake in De Bakkerswinkel on the Zeedijk. Picture by Fleur.

We also had dinner in this famous neighbourhood of the Wallen (red light district). Linda recommended us a really good Thai restaurant.

On Sunday after a lazy breakfast we went to the Van Gogh Museum. It was better than we all had expected! It was really cool to see some of the most famous paintings in the world by yourself. They were very nice and brightly colloured. After a nice lunch in the very chique street of Van Baerle we went home.

Spring is comming!

Spring is comming!! It was 12degrees this morning and the first spring flowers are there. Now we just need grass. According to the gardener April will be the best time. So we just need to wait a little bit more. Then we will have a grass party to celebrate the completion of our house/garden!

Carnaval!

We celebrated Carnaval with lots of friends from school in "The little white church" in De Voorstad. There was lots of space to perform; Julie and Fleur and their friends took their chances often. We had drinks with the other parents.

In Roermond you really have to dress up for Carnaval. Wiggs and lots of make up are necessary.

Leedjes concours carnaval Fleur

Fleur is elected Princess Carnaval of all the 4, 5 and 6 years old of her school Aan de Roer. She and the Prince had special chairs to sit on and watch the competition. They have the key of the school and will open the school tomorrow and will go in front of all Carnaval activities.

The lady with the red hair is Fleur's teacher Petra. Of course she has to change in an official princess dress and obtain the big key.

Exciting!! Who will win the draw? All the kids are in red, green and yellow the collors of carnaval. So it was good to have some Cameronian soccer shirts.
